Your dog looks perfect right up until you press the shutter.

Then they turn away, move out of frame... and the moment is gone.

So your camera roll fills with photos you almost love.

What if you could be ready before that moment appears?

You don't need costly gear or a perfectly trained dog. A phone, DSLR or mirrorless camera works.

With the right approach, you can capture the expressions and quirks that make your dog yours.

And those quick snaps can become photos you'd happily frame.

Before — basic snapshot of a dog
This is the photo most people take of their dog. They're adorable, but it still feels like a quick snap.
After — adorable captivating shot of a dog
Change the angle and timing... and the same dog becomes a photo worth framing.

5 Steps to Perfect Dog Portraits

Step 1 — Dog handling and body language

01.Dog Handling and Body Language

Good dog portraits begin with the dog, not the camera.

Tamara shows you how to read a dog's body signals before you take the shot.

You'll know when to continue, when to pause and how to keep your dog safe and comfortable.

She also shares a few simple tricks (and treats) that can help you get the pose.

Step 2 — Basic gear and how to use it

02.Basic Gear and How to Use It

It's not your camera that matters... it's how you use it.

You can get great results with a phone, DSLR or mirrorless camera.

Phone users get clear advice, while camera users also get settings for more control.

Tamara shares the settings behind each shot, so it's easier to get results like this:

Step 3 — Shooting outdoors

03.Shooting Outdoors

Perfect Pawtraits focuses on outdoor shoots... in gardens and parks, through forests or beside a lake.

The biggest benefit is natural light and natural scenes... plus a dog that's free to have fun.

If you're looking for studio dog photos, this isn't the guide for you.

But if you want beautiful outdoor photos, you'll love Tamara's approach.

Step 4 — Composition and posing

04.Composition and Posing

Dogs don't always stay still, especially an excited puppy...

That's why simple handling, framing and posing tips matter.

They help you stay ready when your dog isn't.

The composition guides help you build a stunning scene, and the posing tips help you place your dog in it.

Step 5 — 30 case studies

05.30 Case Studies

You also get 30 case studies, where Tamara breaks down how she made each photo.

Each one includes the pose and camera settings, plus tips for handling and editing.

Together, they give you everything you need to recreate her shots with your own dog.

Choose your favourite and give it a try:
